Millennium StadiumThanks to hosting events such as the Rugby World Cup in 1999, the Wales Rally GB and the FA Cup from 2001 to 2006, Cardiff is known the world over as a major international sporting destination, and there are plenty of top sporting events to look forward to too. The Millennium Stadium will host the Heineken Cup final on 24 May 2008, the England and Wales cricket teams will visit for an Ashes Test Match in 2009 and Olympic athletes will be heading here for football events in 2012. Cardiff Blues Rugby

Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey

Glamorgan Cricket

County cricket and fast paced Twenty20 cricket can be enjoyed at Sophia Gardens - the home of Glamorgan Cricket Club, just a short five minute walk to the city centre. International Rugby and Football

The spiritual home of Welsh Football and Rugby, the Millennium Stadium, plays host to Wales Rugby home games during the annual Six Nations Championship and Autumn International Series. Watersports in Cardiff Bay

Thanks to the Cardiff Bay Barrage an area of tidal mudflats have now become the 500-acre freshwater lake of Cardiff Bay. Watersport competitions including sailing, canoe polo, power boating, windsurfing, dragon boat racing and water skiing regularly take place here; and the International Sports Village, currently under development will add further facilities to the Bay, including a 50m swimming pool, a real snow ski centre, an ice rink, shops, casinos and an Olympic standard canoeing and white water rafting centre. Wales will host the Ryder Cup tournament in 2010, with the matches being played at The Celtic Manor Resort, just 20 minutes from Cardiff. Just twenty minutes from the city centre you can find beautiful scenery and relaxing walks in the Vale of Glamorgan.
