Artes Mundi (15 March - 8 June 2008)
The International contemporary arts prize, Artes Mundi, takes place in the National Museum Cardiff every two years. Eight artists from across the world compete for the £40,000 grand prize, which in 2006 was won by Finnish artist Eija-Liisa Ahtila. Find out more
Cardiff City in FA Cup Final (Saturday 17th May 2008, kick-off 3.00pm)
Cardiff City are in the FA Cup Final in the first time for 81 years. With hopes that the cup may come to Wales again (the last time was 1927) Cardiff is preparing itself for this historic event as anticipation spreads across the city. Despite the game being in Wembley, fans can keep a close eye on the action on giant screens in Roald Dahl Plass in Cardiff Bay. Come on Bluebirds! Find out more.
Heineken Cup Final (Saturday 24th May 2008, kick-off 5.00pm)
The Heineken Cup, Europe's premier club rugby tournament, celebrates its 13th anniversary in the 2007/08 season. From humble beginnings in 1995 the tournament, organised by ERC, has grown into one of the world's most popular rugby tournaments and annually feature 24 elite teams from six countries. IRB Junior World Championship Wales 2008 ( 6 June - 22 June 2008)
The inaugural IRB Under 20 Junior World Championship descends on the four corners of Wales this summer. The rugby extravaganza marks the last age-grade tournament for some of the world’s most exciting players on the cusp of potential senior stardom. The competition has previously launched the careers of such world superstars as Danny Cipriani, Gavin Henson, Schalk Burger and Richie McCaw and over 17 action-packed days, the likes of Wales, New Zealand and England will battle it out all with one aim, to lift the Junior World Championship trophy on June 22. The National Eisteddfod of Wales (2-9 August 2008)
The Eisteddfod is heading to the capital in 2008 and trading its usual rural location for the city centre.The urban location means you’ll only be a short walk from Cardiff’s top visitor attractions and hotels, as well as theatres, art galleries, live music venues, shops, bars, riverside cycle trails, cafes and restaurants. Madonna Comes to Cardiff (23rd August 2008) Millennium Stadium
Madonna will launch her 27-date world tour in Cardiff on 23rd August. The 'Sticky and Sweet' tour for her new album 'Hard Candy' will start at the Millennium Stadium, before stopping in major cities in Europe and the US. Tickets go on sale from 0900 BST 16th May with prices for the Cardiff show starting at £55.
Wales Rally GB (27-30 November 2008)
The Wales Rally GB is the British round of the FIA World Rally Championship. With more than one million spectators and up to 11,000 volunteer officials, it is Britain's largest annual sporting event. Around 120 of the world's best rally drivers are tested to the limit by 17 stages of motoring over four days in south, mid and west Wales. The competitors are tested on rugged forest tracks and diverse mountain country side. Find out more here
