Martin Tinney Gallery
Martin Tinney Gallery was established in Cardiff in 1992 and is now considered to be Wales’ premier private commercial art gallery.
The gallery specialises in Welsh and Wales-based artists of the highest quality, past and present. The atmosphere is friendly and informal and, whether you are looking for a one-off purchase or are interested in building a serious collection of Welsh art, a visit here is essential.
National Museum Cardiff
The Art collection at the new National Museum of Art, within the same building, is one of Europe’s finest. See five hundred years of magnificent paintings, drawings, sculpture, silver and ceramics from Wales and across the world, including one of Europe’s best collections of Impressionist works. In the Natural History galleries make sure you visit the new Marine gallery, where you can see the world’s largest Leatherback Turtle and the huge skeleton of a Humpback Whale
The Norwegian Church Arts Centre
Formerly a Church for Norwegian Sailors, this is a landmark building on the Cardiff Bay waterfront and a renowned cultural venue. The unique venue hosts a variety of events, from live music to workshops, functions and classes.
While you’re on Womanby Street, take your time and pay attention to the impressive art which is daubed on the walls. In recent years Cardiff’s streets have become a canvass for local artists, so where ever you go you can spot something new and eye-catching. Head down to the Abacus to see Phil Morgan’s famous bearded lady, or go slightly further afield to Roath and track the evolution of creatures down Crwys Road.
