Go Ape! Tree Top Adventure

Cardiff and the region has plenty to keep the kids occupied and all within a budget too. There's a great choice of outdoor and adventurous activities, interactive museums, historic attractions to explore and acres of beautiful parks.

Cardiff has plenty of child-friendly accommodation, and most accommodation providers have family rooms available.

Indoor fun

When the sun shines, entertaining children is easy but whatever the weather Cardiff is well equipped to stave off the cries of ‘when are we going home?’

Techniquest is a hands-on children's science centre in Cardiff Bay, filled with experiments, gadgets and puzzles. Learning has never been so fun! With a changing programme of events, Science Theatre and Planetarium, this all-weather attraction is guaranteed to keep the kids busy for hours.

Around the corner, The Red Dragon Centre is a state-of-the-art entertainment complex which features an Odeon cinema and Hollywood Bowl. All under one roof, the centre is also home to a range of child-friendly restaurants including Chinese, Italian, American and Indian.

For a family day out combined with a fascinating learning experience visit The Cardiff Story museum. Situated in the old Library building in the heart of the city, The Cardiff Story is the perfect start to your trip to the capital. It tells the tale of how Cardiff transformed from a small market town in the 1300s to the thriving, cosmopolitan capital we know today. It's free, fun and interactive!

Discover some of Europe's finest collection of art at the National Museum Cardiff, with five hundred years of magnificent paintings, drawings, sculpture, silver and ceramics from Wales and across the world. The National Museum Cardiff also houses Wales’s natural history, archaeology and geology collections, as well as major touring and temporary exhibitions. The museum has something to offer everyone, with a regular programme of events and activities.

Adventure activities

Cardiff Bay Water Activity Centre offers various water activities and events throughout the year- such as yachting competitions, jet ski displays and water polo tournaments.
