The Mela showcases a wide diversity of cultures, music, dance, arts, fashion and food to name a few. Although the Mela's roots are Asian cultures, this is a festival for all and aims to educate, share and celebrate all cultures.

There will be performances and entertainment throughout the day. Mouthwatering foods and exotic drink from the indian subcontinent is also key aspect of any Mela. The Cardiff Multicultural Mela is no different and will 'serve' a perfect platform for worldwide food stalls from a variety of local and national caterers!

You will also find over 40 stalls selling clothing, accessories, jewellery, toys, arts and crafts, music and much more! There will also be some exciting product launches!

Below are some of the main acts performing at the 2010 mela:

IMRAN KHAN

Arguably the biggest name on the worldwide Asian music scene, Imran Khan was born to Pakistani parents who moved to the Netherlands from the city of Gujranwala, Punjab in Pakistan. In 2007, Khan launched his debut single, "Ni Nachleh", which quickly reached number 1 on various UK Asian radio and television channels. In July 2009, Khan released a new album entitled Unforgettable. This included the single releases "Amplifier,""Bounce Billo" and “Bewafa” which are all now massive Punjabi anthems. Imran has been touring worldwide selling out concerts globally.

BOMBAY ROCKERS

One of the most successful Danish Music Exports acts of all time, their trademark is mixing English and Indian vocals in a fusion of R&B, Pop, Hip hop and Bhangra. The duo consists of Navtej Singh Rehal and Thomas Sardorf. Their major hits include “Rock the party,” “Ari Ari,” “Aaja Nachle,” and “Wild Rose.” They have especially enjoyed success in India where their album went multi platinum and was at number 1 for 12 straight weeks! This will be the first performance for the Bombay Rockers in Wales!

NAVIN KUNDRA

Navin Kundra has been keeping as busy as ever in the last few weeks as the release date of his fantastic new single "Jee Le" approaches. Following the success of 'Love Thing', his heart-felt ballad, 'Tere Liye' rocked the charts and has become one of the most successful releases of 2009 so far. This smash hit has firmly established itself amongst Asian music listeners in London having been number one on Club Asia for five weeks running. 'Jee Le' is his new offering for 2010 is sure to be in the top of charts after receiving tremendous support from the public.

JUZ D

After breaking through with prevalent hits such as ‘Punjabiz In Da Club’, ‘Yaar’, ‘Eshara’ and ‘Piyar’, singer/song writer Juz D returns after over two years with his brand new single titled ‘Mast Jawani’ out now on iTunes via Breakthru Records. Juz D has a big fan base around the globe.he has performed on numerous Gigs, Asian festivals and private functions in the UK, Canada, Sweden, Holland, Malaysia, Dubai and Pakistan.

3 MIX

3Mix are on a mission to bring Indian culture into the mainstream. Uniting pop influences such as Michael Jackson, The Temptations and Motown with tradition Indian music, they are set to make it big in the second half of 2010. Their debut single, "Put It On Me" is out now and is an exciting and diverse first effort. 3 Mix also have a special relationship with the Cardiff Mela, having performed at the inaugural event in Coopers Field, Cardiff Castle in 2007. They are back by popular demand!

AKADEMI - FLUX

‘Akademi presents FLUX, a new dance piece which explores the state of constant change, throughout life, relationships and associations. Created by Urja Desai Thakore, FLUX was originally commissioned for the Medway Fuse Festival in 2010 and tours to Wales as part of the Cardiff Mela 2010.’

DESI NACH

PLANES, TRAINS & RICKSHAWS

The London, Edinburgh and Cardiff Melas have teamed up to set a unique challenge for BBC Asian Network’s Early Breakfast Show presenter, DJ Wax and Nutkhut’s tallest DJ in the world. As all three melas happen on the same day (Sunday 8 August), the DJs are being challenged to appear at each one, taking in motorways, airports and railways along the way. The mela challenge will see the two participants attempting the 550 mile journey. They will start their three-city challenge with an early appearance at the Cardiff Multicultural Mela, then continue their journey along the M4 to wow the 02 London Mela crowds, before flying to Scotland to hit the Edinburgh Mela Festival stage. Audiences will be able to keep track of their epic journey by tuning into the BBC Asian Network.
