STS Lord Nelson - Tall Ship in Cardiff Bay
STS Lord Nelson arrives in Cardiff at the end of a voyage from Glasgow. 15 of the crew were from Cardiff area and included two wheelchair users and four visually impaired young people.
Lord Nelson is one of two vessels in the world to have been purpose designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail side by side on equal terms. Facilities on board include flat wide decks for ease of movement around the ship; wheelchair lifts between deck levels; hearing loop; a speaking compass and hydraulic - powered steering to allow people with limited strength or mobility to helm the ship with ease.
