Get your spooky gladrags on this Halloween at Mermaid Quay!

8th October 2010

Eager ghouls and ghoulettes are invited to enter Mermaid Quay's exciting kids fancy dress competition taking place on Sunday 31 October as part of the waterfront venue’s half term Halloween Fright Fest.

To be in with a chance of winning one of the fantastic spooky prizes, children must head down to Mermaid Quay dressed in their terrifying costumes and register at the Fright Fest marquee from 11am onwards.

Two age groups - under 10s, which will be judged at 1pm, and 10s and over, which will be judged at 2pm - will be invited to act out their characters accompanied by creepy music.  Prizes will be awarded for quality of costume and the portrayal of the character.

As well as the fancy dress competition, there are a host of ghoulish activities for kids and adults to enjoy over the half term, including a creepy Halloween treasure trail (12pm – 4pm, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 October) as well as a spell-binding pumpkin display and ghoulish face painting (12pm – 4pm, Saturday 30).

Many of Mermaid Quay’s restaurants, cafés, bars and shops will also be getting into the Halloween spirit. There will be special themed menus, spooky decorations and costumed staff to continue the mood plus kids in fancy dress eat for free on 31 October in GBK, Nando’s, Strada and Pizza Express (Pizza Express offer from 28 – 31 October).

It looks set to be an exciting event.  The Fright Fest is going to be a lot of fun and make Mermaid Quay the ideal place for families to come and enjoy a day out during half term.”
