LEGO store comes to Wales

15th November 2010

The LEGO Group, one of the world’s largest toy manufacturers, will open its first store in Wales at Cardiff’s biggest shopping destination, St David’s before Christmas.

Visitors to The LEGO Store will immediately see and feel many unique features courtesy of The LEGO Store experience. The new 2,409 sq ft store opposite Disney, on the Lower Level Grand Arcade, will offer a variety of hands-on play features. LEGO products are available in 130 countries worldwide and this will be only the toy brand’s fifth store in the UK.

Skip Kodak, Senior Vice President of LEGO Group, said: “Our store at St David’s will enhance our consumers’ overall LEGO brand experience through product variety, store design and regular hands-on family events. Children and families will be able to experience first-hand and hands-on, the creativity and imagination that goes into LEGO building and be inspired by the over four million LEGO bricks that are in the store at any given time.”

LEGO joins new additions at St David’s such as the recently opened David & Goliath, Officers Club, Spudulike and YooMoo stall as well as Jo Malone, Gap, Bijou Brigette and La Senza which are getting ready to open.

Steven Madeley, centre director of St David’s, said: “We expect The LEGO Store to generate real excitement amongst our shoppers. We have a great family offering within St David’s with the likes of Disney, Mothercare, Early Learning Centre and JoJo Maman Bebe and we know that LEGO will be a fantastic addition and will add to the fun retail animation throughout St David’s.

St David’s is strongly established as a fashion destination and we are now looking at brining more specialist stores to help diversify the mix within the shopping centre. We are anticipating the LEGO store to open in St David’s before Christmas in time for our shoppers’ Christmas shopping.”

The St David’s Lego store will include The Master Build Bar where LEGO fans of all ages can view LEGO Club TV videos, play games, learn how to build LEGO models and more. The Pick A Brick wall features dozens of LEGO bricks and elements in all sizes and colours where customers can customise their collection. Additionally, the new digital ‘out of box’ elements allow children to hold a LEGO set in front of a camera that will then transform and build a 3D model on the screen.

E J Hales, Lunson Mitchenall and Cushman & Wakefield are the letting agents for St David’s. Cushman & Wakefield represented Lego.
