Classic Christmas story a bestseller at the New Theatre

Tommy Steele in ‘Scrooge’ breaks musical record at the New Theatre

The musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic seasonal tale, Scrooge starring Tommy Steele, has been announced as the highest-grossing musical with a two week run at the New Theatre ever! With some tickets still available for Monday – Thursday evening performances, audiences are advised to BOOK NOW before this Christmas Cracker of a show completely sells out!

Audiences have been undeterred by the recent snowfall and it’s not hard to see why this festive themed production has proved so popular. Full of catchy songs, energetic dance routines and amazing magical illusions, the show is the perfect winter treat for the whole family.

Tommy Steele takes the title role as Ebenezer Scrooge, the miser who is shown the error of his ways on Christmas Eve. Widely regarded as Britain’s first teen idol, Tommy has enjoyed roles in films such as Half A Sixpence before forging a career on the stage.

Producer Bill Kenwright said “I am delighted that the New Theatre is proving such a stronghold for musicals, as demonstrated by the record breaking figures and packed houses for Scrooge in Cardiff.  Long may it continue!”

With Christmas just around the corner this is the perfect time to say ‘Bah Humbug’ to the cold weather and enjoy this winter warmer. Scrooge is at the New Theatre for one more week from Monday 29 November – Saturday 4 December. Tickets range from £9.50 - £35.00 and can booked via the Box Office on 029 2087 8889 or online* at www.newtheatrecardiff.co.uk
