Metropole lounge's festive treat with Christmas afternoon tea

The new Metropole Lounge at the Hilton Cardiff has launched a festive treat for shoppers to take a break from the hustle and bustle of their Christmas shopping.

Visitors will be able to indulge in a Christmas-themed afternoon tea served with a warming cup of mulled wine.

The treat includes a selection of Christmas sandwiches along with snowman cupcake, cinnamon scone, mince pie and a Christmas tree-shaped Welshcake. The afternoon tea also includes a festive Stollen, cranberry and ginger cake, present-shaped chocolates, a miniature Christmas pudding and candy cane shortbread.

The Christmas Afternoon Tea is in addition to the three more traditional versions on the Metropole Lounge’s menu of Champagne, Welsh and Pink and will be served throughout the month of December.

Marie Fagan, general manager of the Hilton Cardiff, said: “The Christmas afternoon tea is a special addition to our food and drink menu at the Metropole Lounge and one which we are sure that Christmas shoppers in Cardiff will very much enjoy.

“The Metropole Lounge is unique in the city as an afternoon tea destination. Since its official opening last month, the varieties of afternoon teas and specialist tea offering are proving popular and the lounge’s reputation is growing. We believe that this offering appeals to a large market in the city which has previously been under-catered for. Since the opening of the St David’s shopping centre, more people are visiting the city and it is up to businesses in Cardiff to adapt and grow to meet their needs.”
