Lego(c) Store opens in St David's

The LEGO Group, one of the world’s largest toy manufacturers, will open the doors to its first Welsh store on Friday, 10th December, in St David’s, Cardiff.

The new 2,409 sq ft store which is situated on the lower level of Grand Arcade will open in time for the Christmas shopping rush and will include hands on play features for children and adults alike.

The St David’s LEGO store will include The Master Build Bar where LEGO fans of all ages can view LEGO Club TV videos, play games, learn how to build LEGO models and more.  The Pick A Brick wall features dozens of LEGO bricks and elements in all sizes and colours where customers can customise their collection. Additionally, the new digital ‘out of box’ elements allow children to hold a LEGO set in front of a camera that will then transform and build a 3D model on the screen.

The opening comes during the busy Christmas trading period within the centre. Other stores set to open their doors in December include Swedish homeware and electrical specialists, Clas Ohlson today (Wednesday) and women’s accessories retailer, Bijou Brigitte. In addition, high end global fragrance boutique Jo Malone has recently opened at St David’s, on The Hayes.

St David’s is also playing host to a number of temporary Christmas stores during December and January. Handmade cosmetics retailer, LUSH, has set up a pop up store on the first floor next to Paperchase to make the most of the busy Christmas trading period. Italian restaurant Carluccio’s has opened a store offering a wide range of gifts for food lovers while gadget and gift specialist, Discovery Store has also set up a pop up within the centre.

Steven Madeley, centre director of St David’s, said: “The LEGO store opening further extends our great family offering within St David’s and will provide shoppers with great gift ideas this festive season. This new store is only the fifth dedicated LEGO store in the UK and we would like to extend a warm welcome to Cardiff and St David’s.

“With further shop openings anticipated before Christmas, it really is an exciting time at the centre. Our Christmas pop-up stores are also generating a great deal of interest as we continue to offer our customers a wide range of choice, particularly to give inspiration to Christmas shoppers.”
