McCartney set for return to Capital

6th March 2010

After appearing in Cardiff’s Capitol Cinema with the Beatles almost 45 years ago, Sir Paul McCartney is heading back to the capital to play in front of an anticipated full house at the Millennium Stadium on 26 June.

The stadium is one of only four venues selected by the former Beatle and is another coup for the Millennium Stadium as they continue to attract major events and artists to the city.

Looking ahead to his to his return to Cardiff, Sir Paul McCartney said, “"I want to make sure it's a great night for everyone, a total blast. Me and the band can't wait to get to Cardiff and rock out at the Millennium Stadium, which we have been looking forward to playing for quite a while now. We want it to be a night that none of us forget. The last time I was there was with Wings in the 70's so there's a lot for us to catch up on!"

The 2010 tour brings four massive outdoor shows to the UK this summer that will feature a typically diverse set of music from all of Paul's unrivalled career, with songs from The Beatles, Wings and Paul's solo work, including tracks from The Fireman's 2008 album 'Electric Arguments'.

Millennium Stadium venue sales manager Alex Luff said: "This is a massive coup for Cardiff and for the Millennium Stadium which has held its reputation as a must-play live entertainments venue for over a decade since our first ever concert on Millennium Eve.

"It is guaranteed to be a fantastic occasion for everyone involved, especially the live music fans out there who turn up in their thousands each year to support the biggest names in industry from Madonna to the Manic Street Preachers.

"Macca fans out there should snap up their tickets early when they are released on Monday next week so not to miss out on the biggest solo-artist concert this year in Cardiff."
