Last chance to vote Only Men Aloud

21st April 2010

The nation’s favourite choir and official Cardiff Ambassadors, Only Men Aloud, are seeking your support before voting closes for the Classical Brit Awards on April 23rd. To cast your vote click here.

This alternative election campaign hopes to result in the nation’s favourite choir Only Men Aloud winning a Classical Brit award for the NS&I Album of the Year for their second album Band of Brothers’, a category decided by public vote.

Choir member Craig Yates said: “We’re up against some serious competition in the likes of Blake, Hayley Westenra, Camilla Kerslake, and the Coldstream Guards, so we really need to mobilise our supporters to go online and back us. We’re very privileged to be nominated for a Classical Brit award, it really does feel like we’re up for one of the Oscars of the classical music world, and it would be great to win, so please Wales, go to http://www.classicalbrits.co.uk/voting before April 23 and help us bag a Brit.”

Only Men Aloud won BBC’s Last Choir Standing competition and have been playing all over the world since then, only recently returning from a series of events in Manhattan to celebrate Wales Week USA. Their fresh, dynamic approach to the traditional Welsh male choirs landed them a major record deal with global giants Universal Music. Only Men Aloud will be back in the Valleys in the summer, headlining at the Blaenau Gwent and Heads of the Valleys National Eisteddfod opening concert in The Works, Ebbw Vale on 31 July.

The deadline for voting is April 23 and the Classical Brit Awards will take place on May 13.
