One of Cadw’s most recognisable historic monuments will be opening its doors this May Day Bank Holiday with special events to appeal to children. Castell Coch, on the outskirts of Cardiff, is inviting visitors to join in fun filled events in fabulous surroundings.
The Spell Binder will be on hand to regale visitors with tales and songs based on Aesop’s Fables on Sunday 2 May, 11am-4pm. And what better place to listen to such entertainment than Castell Coch, with its lavish interior decoration, created by renowned Victorian architect William Burges, depicting those very fables!
Cadw’s very own knight, the gallant Sir Andrew will also be holding court at Castell Coch, the fairy-tale castle nestling in the trees above Tongwynlais on Monday 3 May, 11am-4pm. He will be keen to meet and greet potential new apprentice-knights to join him in his courageous endeavours and thrilling encounters.
Sir Andrew’s will be holding his Knight School again on Sunday 30 May, 11am-4pm and the Spellbinder returns on Monday 31 May 11am-4pm.
Wayne Evans, Cadw’s Visitor Services Manager said, “Finding exciting and interesting activities to entertain children and young people on bank holiday weekends can be quite a challenge but these events at Castell Coch are sure to appeal to inquisitive minds of all ages. “
