St David’s Hosts Cardiff’s first Fashion Week

St David’s, Wales’ biggest fashion destination, will be marking its six month anniversary by hosting Cardiff’s very first Spring/Summer Fashion Week. Between April 6 and 11, shoppers will be introduced to the new season’s trends via a whole host of stylish events including fashion shows on The Hayes catwalk, fashion pharmacies and pamper lounges. 

During the SS10 St David’s Fashion Week, Cardiff’s fashionistas will also have the opportunity to be styled in the season’s latest trends by established fashion stylist Ricky Partner, who has worked with leading designers including Jasper Conran, Julien Macdonald and Matthew Williamson. 

Activity will include:

• Pamper Lounges (Tuesday 6th – Wednesday 7th): Two lounges will be located within St David’s, both featuring four cosmetic/beauty/accessory and fashion retailers. Visitors will be treated to free makeovers and pamper treatments and potentially free styling from fashion retailers

• St David’s SS10 Fashion Show - (Thursday 8th – Sunday 11th): High-energy, dance-orientated fashion shows will take place on a 18 metre catwalk on The Hayes, featuring the brand new Spring/Summer collections from the retailers at St David’s.

Four shows will take place daily: Thursday and Friday at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm & 6pm and Saturday and Sunday at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 4pm.

• Fashion Pharmacy - (Thursday 8th – Sunday 11th): Based on the upper level of Grand  Arcade (near H&M), this will be a free ‘meet the stylist’ session where shoppers will be offered fashion advice within a six square metre inflatable room by established fashion stylist Ricky Partner. 

Ricky has more than eight years’ styling experience and as well as working with world-renowned designers has co-designed ranges for TOPSHOP and TOPMAN. He has also worked with high street brands including Marks and Spencer, Wallis, River Island, Zara, All Saints and Gap.  

Five style sessions will take place daily over the four days, with shoppers invited to participate in fashion workshops and being advised on next season’s key looks and trends.

The five key themes for the workshop are:

o On Trend: What’s in trend, what is on the catwalk and what suits you.
o Capsule Wardrobe: Creating your own capsule wardrobe. The key items you need to style any outfit.
o Celebrity Style: What are the celebrities wearing and where can you find it in St David’s.
o Tailoring Trends to Shapes: What’s trendy but making it work for people of different shapes
o Accessories: What must have accessories do you need to complement any outfit

• Unlocking fashion pods: 18 pods will be located at St David’s featuring top prizes from retailers. Shoppers will be given free scratch cards to win the prizes within the numbered pods.  All entrants will also have an opportunity to enter a prize draw to win a £100 St David’s Giftcard.

• Discount Cheque Book: Shoppers will also have the opportunity to get their hands on an exclusive St David’s Discounts Cheque book, offering great discounts and offers at stores within St David’s including Lambretta, Carluccio’s and Ollie & Nic.
