Just months after opening its first store in Wales at St David’s, Cardiff, top fashion retailer All Saints is set to double in size. The fashion chain’s trading success will see them upsize to incorporate the unit adjacent to the existing All Saints store which opens up on to The Hayes.
The expansion into the 8,500 sq ft store comes as men’s fashion brand Luke 1977 announces that it will open its second UK outlet at St David’s in the heart of Cardiff.
Luke 1977, whose fashions can be seen on numerous celebrities including David Beckham and the Kaiser Chiefs, will open a 1,666 sq ft shop. The St David’s store will be Luke 1977’s first in Wales, opening on the upper level of Grand Arcade. Luke 1977 will join Republic which has also upsized by opening a larger double-fronted store in St David’s to showcase more of its collection and will become its UK flagship store.
Stephen Craig, CEO of All Saints, said: “Our St David’s store has performed very strongly since opening; this expansion reflects our success and the increasing demand for our full fashion range.”
Luke Roper, founder of Luke 1977, added: “The United Kingdom of Luke is coming to Wales, and we know that St David’s is a great location for our supporters to come and get some ‘Luke’ therapy; after all Luke 1977 is for the modern lad, a gentleman, a working class hero and a bit of a rogue!”
With brands such as Hollister, Hugo Boss, Kurt Geiger and John Lewis’s legion of designers, St David’s has established itself as Wales’ premier fashion destination. St David’s has already helped to boost Cardiff up five places to 6th in the Experian retail rankings and is helping to attract many more visitors to the capital city.
Joanne Skilton, of St David’s Partnership, a joint venture between Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) and Land Securities, said: “All Saints’ doubling its store size, following on from Republic’s expansion, is testimony to how well shops are trading at St David’s and are benefiting from the millions of shoppers who come to enjoy the brilliant fashion range available.
“The newest, most in demand, fashion brands such as Luke want to open in St David’s as they know they will be in one of the UK’s best locations to showcase their brand. The offering at St David’s is continuing to grow and improve so we have always got something new and exciting to offer our shoppers each time we visit. We are talking to several top brands about opening a new store in St David’s and will be making more announcements in due course.”
