Record Crowds in Cardiff for 10th Speedway GP
12th July 2010
The Speedway Grand Prix celebrated a record crowd to mark its 10th anniversary at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
The streets of the capital were awash with colour as 45,000 Speedway fans soaked up the atmosphere, both in and around the stadium, on another glorious weekend in Cardiff. The experience for many will have been even better as a result of the Cardiff Commitment. The scheme was introduced by Cardiff & Co in partnership with the Cardiff Hoteliers’ Association and the Millennium Stadium to make rooms available in the city at reasonable prices for new events and to safeguard existing events – thus giving the capital a competitive edge over other cities.
Dates for next year's Speedway GP have just been released as Saturday 25th June 2011.
On the Friday there'll be free entry to the practice session at the Millennium Stadium. In addition the highly successful fanzone that was introduced in 2010 will be repeated and made even better for 2011. To book your ticket, click here.
Speedway Grand Prix has again been working closely with the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Hoteliers' Association and Cardiff & Co, to secure accommodation for the 2011 event at competitive rates.
