TripAdvisor Top 10 for St Fagans: National History Museum Cardiff

16th August 2010

St Fagans: National History Museum

St Fagans: National History Museum has been revealed as one of the UK’s top ten free attractions as voted by users of TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site.

The open-air Museum on the outskirts of Cardiff is Wales’s most popular heritage attraction with over 600,000 visitors annually.  St Fagans contains over 40 buildings that have been moved from locations all around Wales and re-erected at the Museum; buildings include a post office, farmhouses and a medieval church.

Robin Gwyn, Director of Communications for Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales said: “Visitors from Wales and beyond have known for over 60 years that St Fagans is one of Europe’s best Museums and it is a privilege for the users of one of the world’s most popular travel websites to confirm this.

“We are proud to be able to make a positive contribution to Wales’s economy during the recession and this recognition is a great boost for us as we form a 10-year strategy to re-develop St Fagans to tell the story of the people of Wales from earliest times to the present day.”

Admission to St Fagans: National History Museum is free thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government
