Tasty Addition To Vale Resort's Host Of Activity Breaks

22nd September 2010

Coginio Cookery is bringing Welsh cookery breaks to The Vale Resort in Hensol, near Cardiff, to further establish Wales’ reputation as a foodie heaven. This break is a real treat with Coginio (Welsh for cooking) cuisine being about far more than just leeks.

Wales is firmly established on the gastronomic map thanks to its fantastic fresh food and award winning restaurants and Coginio breaks celebrate all of this. Run by broadcaster and chef Sian Bassett-Roberts, the morning course guides budding chefs through Coginio’s step-by-step cookery DVD before they turn their hand to making the recipes (all using the finest local Welsh ingredients.)
Sian has promoted Welsh food all over the world, making her a champion of Food Tourism. Her relaxed and informal sessions put the fun back into cooking and showcase a fresh Welsh larder to compete with any country.

Illustrating the wealth of homegrown produce available in Wales and finishing with a lunch to sample the morning’s mouth watering creations, the Coginio break is perfect for foodies.
During the course, Sian briefly summarises the history of Welsh food, comparing it to other cuisines and highlighting how it is perceived today.
She says: “It’s an informal day and fits well with all the others breaks the Vale Resort has to offer. The Coginio break is different from other cookery courses, in that it gives an insight into Welsh culture as well as Welsh cooking. By the end of the morning, the aim is for people to have had an entertaining and fun time while finding out about wonderful Welsh food. The Vale Resort is an amazing venue and the setting and restaurant are perfectly suited to what we are offering.”

Whether solo, with a partner, friends or family or celebrating a birthday or get-together, the Vale Resort has a long list of activity breaks like Coginio and can tailor a weekend to suit your interests and abilities. Welsh cakes, cawl or Welsh Rarebit anyone?
The Taste of Wales Cookery Break includes one night’s luxury accommodation at the Vale Resort, which is Wales’ highest rated 4* hotel, full use of the extensive leisure facilities, full Welsh breakfast, cook-along and homemade lunch.

The next Coginio breaks run on November 20th, January 22nd, February 26th, March 26th and April 30th.
