St David’s Marks its First Year With a Shopping Treat!
30th September 2010

It will be party time for shoppers in Cardiff next month as St David’s Dewi Sant celebrates its first birthday.
Stores in the city’s premier shopping destination are planning special treats and hotels are gearing up for weekend break bookings from those with an eye for early Christmas shopping. Highlight of the celebration will be the St David’s autumn/winter fashion week from 29 to 31 October, including catwalks aout and about throughout the centre.
The flagship John Lewis store has already notched up its first year of Cardiff trading by announcing that despite the recession, it has hit its sales and profit targets.
The combination of St David’s Dewi Sant and John Lewis pulled Cardiff up five places to sixth in the UK retail rankings and their presence has provided a real boost to existing city centre stores.
Richard Thomas, managing director of Cardiff & Co, the company set up to promote the city across the world, said: “Cardiff has really come alive with the new St David’s Dewi Sant. It has always been a great place to shop and now it’s one of the best in the UK. It has been a fantastic first year and St David’s has become a major attraction. We look forward to the centre going from strength to strength.”
St David’s Dewi Sant has 2,500 car parking spaces open 24 hours, with prices as low as £1 after 5pm. Shops are open until 8pm every weekday, linked to late night dining at Eastside and out on The Hayes with restaurants including Ruby Tuesday, Jamie’s Italian, TGI Friday and Yo! Sushi.

Cardiff’s St David’s Dewi Sant is a £675m investment by St David’s Partnership – a joint venture between Land Securities and Capital Shopping Centres. It celebrates its first year at the heart of the city centre on October 22.
