Heads You Win: Ffresh Restaurant Offers Free Food at the Flip of a Coin

7th September 2010

Wales Millennium Centre's restaurant and lounge bar, ffresh, is giving customers the chance to eat free of charge if they win a new coin-toss challenge.Ffresh

Tuesday 14 September 2010 is 'Beat Barnaby' day at ffresh restaurant where customers will be given the choice to receive a 20 per cent discount off their bill or take ffresh restaurant manager Barnaby Hibbert's challenge. Barnaby will toss a Welsh pound coin and if the customer calls correctly heads or tails, they'll pay nothing for their food.

Visitors will be able to sample the new autumn menu based on the best seasonal ingredients from award-winning Wales the True Taste suppliers. Highlights of the new menu include:
* Beetroot and Perl Las salad with walnut dressing
* Braised shoulder of Welsh lamb, rosti dauphinoise and roasted root vegetables
* Vegetable gratin with cauliflower puree

Diners who choose not to gamble will automatically receive a reduction of 20 per cent off their bill. This means they could save approximately £10 off the average price of two-course dinner for two and a bottle of house wine. If they gamble and lose they pay the bill in full.

The event is the first in a series of birthday celebrations planned for the restaurant which first opened its doors for business in October 2010, following  Wales Millennium Centre's decision to bring all its catering facilities in-house.

David Pearce, Wales Millennium Centre's Director of Business Development said: 'This is a win-win situation for diners at ffresh restaurant and is the Centre's way of thanking the people who have dined with us in our first year. The cost of the bill may be a gamble but the quality of the food is guaranteed.'

The challenge is popular in restaurants across Europe, America and in Australian bars, where drinkers "toss the boss" for free drinks.

Restaurant manager Barnaby Hibbert, added: 'Why bother for two-for-one offers when you can leave it to chance? But I will warn customers, I was born lucky!'
