Kung Hei Fat Choi - Happy Chinese New Year from Cardiff!

Cardiff has a real flavour of the East for the Chinese New Year – the year of the raAncient rock carvings from Dazu, Chinabbit, which starts on Thursday 3rd February.

On show at the National Museum Cardiff until 3rd April is a selection of ancient rock carvings from Dazu in Southwestern China.

The steep hillsides of the Dazu world heritage site near Chongqing contain an exceptional series of 50,000 rock carvings dating from the 9th to the 13th century. From Steep Hillsides: Ancient Rock Carvings from Dazu, China contains superb examples that have become detached from their original setting, along with accurate replicas of some of the most important sculptures still in situ and dramatic large-scale images to give some idea of what it is like to visit these spectacular places. The Wales Millennium Centre celebrates Chinese New Year with a fun 'hands on' family day of performances and workshops as well as Chinese circus, kite exhibition and Lion Dancing.
