Heineken Cup tours Cardiff by open top bus!

19th May 2011

European Champions Village

The Heineken Cup will tour Cardiff on Saturday 21st May, before making its way to Cardiff Arms Park, next to the Millennium Stadium where Leinster and Northampton will battle for the right to take it home with them.

French legend Raphaël Ibanez will arrive by helicopter, landing at Roald Dahl Plass in Cardiff Bay at noon, with the Heineken Cup Trophy and present it to Wales’ very own Ieuan Evans. Organisers are expecting fans to line the streets as the cup makes its way by open top bus from the Bay to the city centre.

The route takes the cup along Lloyd George Avenue, across Callaghan Square and down Mill Lane before processing past the St David’s Centre, along The Hayes. The journey ends with a pass in front of Cardiff Castle before turning into Westgate Street to arrive at the European Champions Village for 1pm. The final kicks off at 5pm.Download the leaflet here

For fans who want to soak up the atmosphere before making their way into the stadium, European Champions Village will be set up in Cardiff Arms Park, just next door. There will be entertainment and sponsors’ events, and a chance to see the Heineken Cup when it arrives on the open top bus.

The village opens at Midday and will remain open until 4pm. The Village will then re-open at 7pm with live music and a re-run of the Heineken Cup Final on the Big Screen. The Village will then close at 9pm.
