BigLittleCity: Cardiff - Final Phase

Third and final installment of Cardiff’s interactive art project

BigLittleCity are opening the doors on the third and final installment of their 17 week residency at The Cardiff Story in the city’s Old Library building. BigLittleCity is a celebration of the city and its creative talent. 

The exhibition includes photography, film, writing, music, animation, illustration, painting and beyond. Having already displayed work from established artists, like the legendary photographer David Hurn, Charles Byrd’s and his magical machines and Super Furry Animals illustrator Pete Fowler, the exhibition has worked hard to showcase emerging artists as well as creating lots of opportunities for the public to get involved.

BigLittleCity is the brainchild of local photographer Dan Green. Dan’s first solo exhibition in 2008 Cardiff:Characters showed his perspective on the people who make the city what it is. With BigLittleCity the gauntlet was thrown down to the rest of the city’s creative community.

“We put a call out for artists to submit any work they felt reflected their city, and we were truly overwhelmed by the response. There’s something magical here that makes people feel passionate about Cardiff.”

Open since April, the exhibition has been a great success and Dan is extremely proud of the community of artists who made the project possible and the public reaction.

“We’ve really tried to make sure there is always something new for visitors with our interactive projects, but some people are on their tenth visit! With this final phase we will have even more for them to discover. Some of the artists involved in the final phase were strangers to us two months ago, but having a base here in the Cardiff Story has created a focal point which inspires people to get involved.”

BigLittleCity: Cardiff continues at The Cardiff Story, The Old Library, The Hayes, Cardiff from June 22nd - July 22nd 2011 Monday - Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 11am - 4pm. Admission is free.
