Hilton Cardiff gets set for charity Zumba Zunday

23rd June 2011

Hilton Cardiff gets set for Zumba ZundayHilton Cardiff is set to hold its annual Around the World in a Day fundraising event, by hosting a ‘Zumba Zunday’ in Cardiff city centre.

The event will raise money for local children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan, which offers comfort, care and support to terminally ill children, young people and their families across Wales.

‘Zumba Zunday’ will take place on Sunday 26 June outside Cardiff City Hall and will invite members of the public to experience the phenomena, that is Zumba.

The Latin-inspired dance fitness concept was established in 2001 and has since grown into the world’s largest dance-fitness program, with more than 12 million taking part in weekly Zumba classes across more than 125 countries worldwide.

Hilton Cardiff will bring the Zumba phenomenon to Wales, as it seeks to raise a significant donation for Tŷ Hafan.

Supervised and assisted by fully qualified Zumba instructors from the Richards School of Dance, participants will enjoy up to two hours of Zumba activity and will receive a complimentary day-pass to the hotel’s LivingWell health club, as well as the chance to enter a prize draw to win a weekend’s stay at Hilton Cardiff.

Marie Fagan, general manager of Hilton Cardiff, said, “This is an exciting event that we are very pleased to be a part of. Tŷ Hafan is a wonderful organisation which offers much needed support to young people and families across Wales. We hope to raise a significant amount of money for the charity and encourage as many people as possible to come along and take part.”

The cost per participant to take part in Zumba Zunday will be £10.00, of which £5.00 will go directly to Tŷ Hafan. This will also include a free Hilton in the Community Foundation T-shirt, a complimentary nutrition ‘Shaker’ courtesy of Reflex, plus a day-pass to LivingWell Health Club in Hilton Cardiff.

Frank Ady, fTŷ Hafan, said, “This is a fantastic way to raise money to help us support the children, young people and their families who use our services. With the popularity of Zumba, I am sure it will be a great success.”

Participants are invited to come along in fancy dress and there will be prizes for the best Zumba activities. Registration will take place from 1:45pm on the day, or can be done in advance here.
