Queen Street

Queen Street

Queen Street is Cardiff's main pedestrianised shopping street and is home to some of the biggest high street names. The street runs east from Capitol Shopping Centre to west, to Cardiff Castle.

Along the street you'll find some of the high street's biggest names. Shopping essentials such as Next, Primark, Top Shop, HMV, River Island, JD Sports, Dorothy Perkins, Laura Ashley, Marks & Spencer, WHSmith and Office are only a few of the great names you'll find there.

As the city's main shopping street, Queen Street is the place to see some of the varied musicians and street artists that perform in the city. From classical musicians, street dance and human statues to 3D pavement art, there's always something to catch your eye as you shop.

As well as this, several pieces of public art dot the walk from east to west including four pieces by Welsh sculptor Robert Thomas. Most imposing is the bronze statue of Aneurin Bevan, who was the driving force behind the National Health System. You'll find him at the head of Queen Street, opposite the castle. Other sculptures by Robert Thomas along Queen Street are 'Mother and Son', 'The Family' and 'The Miner'.
