17th June 2010
An internationally renowned design expert from Cardiff School of Art and Design at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) has had her many achievements recognised by winning a prestigious Inspire Wales Award.
Olwen Moseley, Director of Enterprise at the School and the driving force behind the acclaimed Cardiff Design Festival, won the award in the strongly contested category of Arts, Media and Creative Industries.
The winners of the Inspire Wales Awards, which are run by the Institute of Welsh Affairs, were announced by S4C presenter Angharad Mair at a ceremony attended by more than 400 guests at Cardiff’s City Hall last night.
Commenting on her award-winning success, Olwen said: “I am delighted to have won this award and I would like to dedicate it to all those people who have a real passion for anything and who decide to go out there and do something about it.”
The award aims to recognise ‘an outstanding contribution by an individual to the enhancement of Wales’s reputation in the arts, media or creative industries.’
Further highlighting her outstanding reputation, Olwen’s achievements were also recognized in 2006 and 2009 by Design Week magazine which ranked her as one of the UK’s ‘Hot 50’ most influential and important figures within the design industry.
Launched earlier this year, there are 10 Inspire Wales Award categories which aim to celebrate achievements by those in the fields of business, science, arts and media, education, sport and the environment.
