The world renowned Mariinsky Opera returns to the Centre for two days of dramatic music-making next spring. Bringing two monumental works to the stage in concert performances, Valery Gergiev will conduct the Mariinsky Orchestra, Chorus and Soloists. They will be joined by the additional choral forces required to do justice to these two magnificent pieces by Wagner and Mahler.

The performances are Sat 31 Mar ’12, 4pm Wagner: Parsifal and Sun 1 Apr ’12 4pm
Mahler: Symphony No 8 ‘Symphony of a Thousand’. Parsifal: Approximately 5 ¾ hours including two intervals, performed in German [with English libretto available to download from Wales Millennium Centre's website from Feb 2012]. Mahler Symphony No 8: Approximately 80 minutes with no interval
