Penderyn Distillery is the only distillery in Wales and one of the smallest distilleries in the world. One of the few remaining independent distilleries, Penderyn takes its name from the old Welsh village in which it is located and nestles in the foothills of the ancient Brecon Beacons mountain range. The Brecon Beacons National Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty famed for its breathtaking scenery, open moorland, clear rivers and tumultuous waterfalls.

Ten thousand years ago the last ice age ended. The ice floes covering Northern Europe stopped where Penderyn Distillery lies today before retreating back to the Arctic. Here we produce just one cask per day of the finest malted barley spirit, which, when matured, is recognised worldwide as one of the finest malt whiskies.

Members of the public can enjoy a distillery tour, take a journey through the history of single malt whisky making in Wales, and understand the distilling and bottling process at first hand.

On arrival you will be greeted by your tour guide and taken through to the exhibition area where you can:

• Browse at your leisure and learn for yourself the history of whisky making in Wales as well as more general Welsh history.
• Watch the short video about how Penderyn first started, and how it has developed since its launch in 2004.
• See our superb display of old whisky jugs.

Your guide will then join you and take you through to the next section where you will be able to:

• View the still at Penderyn Distillery that was designed by Dr. David Faraday, a descendant of famous physicist Sir Michael Faraday. If distillation is in process you will be able to see the spirit being drawn into the spirit safe.
• View of the whisky bottling line and bottling process
• See the barrel display area when your guide will describe how the different expressions of Penderyn whisky are matured and talk you through the various stages of the maturation process
• Learn about our other products - Merlyn Cream Liqueur, Brecon Five Vodka and Brecon Special Reserve Gin. Feel and smell the botanicals that are used to make Brecon Special Reserve Gin
• Visit our tasting room and sample our products - Penderyn Single Malt Whisky, Brecon Five Vodka, Brecon Gin and Merlyn Cream Liqueur.
• Browse our retail shop for Penderyn Spirits and merchandise.
Evening & Corporate/Premium Distillery Tours

Penderyn Distillery is delighted to announce that it is now offering evening and corporate/premium distillery tours and tastings.

Introduced by popular demand, the evening distillery tours are by appointment only and available to parties of 10-25 at a cost of £8.00 per person.

Corporate/Premium distillery tours and tastings cost £20 per person which includes a gift. Again these are available by appointment only and available to parties of 10-25.

Opening hours
Visitor Centre is open 9:30 am to 5:00 pm every day. Last admission is 4:00 pm. Pre-booking is advisable. Please note that we cannot guarantee to be producing and/or bottling every day. The shop is open every day from 9:30 am until 5:00 pm.
