Based at the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery, Rhondda Heritage Park is a living testament to the mining communities of the World famous Rhondda Valleys.
The park offers a fascinating insight into the rich culture and character of the Rhondda Valleys in a unique entertaining and educational environemnet for all ages.
Accompanied by your tour guide (all guides are ex-miners), your first stop is the Lamp Room - don your safety helmet and 'ride' the 'cage' to 'pit bottom'.
Explore the underground workings and experience the sights, sounds and smells of a 1950's pit on the subterranean tour 'A Shift in Time'. Your tour guide will answer any questions and contribute to his own inimitable anecdotes of life underground.
