Our aim is simple, to maximise travel and tourism opportunities through promoting the dynamic image of Cardiff to the world.
From dining, attractions, shopping, culture, major events, festivals and city-wide programs happening across the city, Visit Cardiff is your direct connection to everything Cardiff.
The Visit Cardiff Network is a membership body made up of over 130 businesses within Cardiff and the surrounding areas. Our members include conference venues, hotels, serviced apartments, tour operators, retail outlets, restaurants, sports teams and transport operators who have all joined together with the common goal of reaching a wider international audience.
Our services have a dual function:
- To furnish the visitor with up to date information and travel advice
- To enhance the marketing capability of Cardiff’s tourism businesses
Our members pay an annual fee and reap a dazzling array of benefits, including exposure to visitors from 200 countries, access to our 50,000 social media followers and 20,000 leisure subscribers.
The official destination website for Cardiff which is targeted at both visitors and residents, earning 1.3 million unique visitors annually. Members receive a presence via a premium listing with an article about your business, images, improved keywords, links to special offers, links to social media accounts and an embedded map so that tourists can find you quickly and easily.
Visit Cardiff Marketing Strategy
We develop a range of marketing initiatives which promote the city and drive traffic to our members businesses. Our members have access to our official marketing plan for the year which is segmented into major events, monthly themes, inbound flights from Cardiff airport, marketing activity from Visit Wales and much more. We demonstrate how each of these work cohesively together through editorial on the Visit Cardiff blog, our monthly e-newsletter, interactive social media and digital campaigns. Including #Cardiffis which champions our unique and versatile city across a wide range of city blogs.
Our networking events are a great opportunity to meet other local businesses and we host quarterly events throughout the year. We also host spotlight sessions where our members can present their business and speakers who provide guidance on how to benefit from the major events taking place in the city.
The Tourist Information Center
The ultimate destination for visitors and residents to find out what to see and do in Cardiff. An added benefit for our members is the bilingual concierges directing visitors to your business and an outlet to sell tickets for your services.
Visit Cardiff participates in a number of trade exhibitions each year with the aim of enhancing existing tours to Cardiff and introducing Cardiff as a must-see destination to new programs. Members have the opportunity to co-exhibit or receive full representation via press packs and itineraries which we prepare. We encourage members to provide special group offers to tour operators and incentivise them to experience their product first-hand via familiarisation visits.
Meet Cardiff promotes the city as a business tourism destination to meeting and event planners. Members receive a premium listing on meetcardiff.com and referrals for events through Cardiff Convention Bureau. We exhibit at various exhibitions, both domestic and international to promote Cardiff as one of the top ten conference and event destinations. We work closely with the Cardiff Hoteliers Association and develop digital marketing campaigns to showcase the region which our members have access to.
We provide data on visitor habits which includes where visitors are traveling from, overnight stays and the economic benefit of major events. All information is readily available to our members.
We work closely with Cardiff Council’s Major Events team, Venues Marketing team and Cardiff Harbour Authority to manage Visit Cardiff’s message to the media, consumers, travel organisations and online influencers. We are dedicated to promoting the image of Cardiff to an international audience, increasing press coverage and growing tourism to the city’s districts.
