Located on the second floor above the hustle and bustle of the vibrant capital city, The hotel is situated at the junction of St Mary Street, Wood Street and Westgate Street, with entrances on both St Mary Street and Westgate Street. The closest Hotel to the Principality Stadium gates, many of our rooms overlook the iconic building, home to major international sporting events and concerts.

Breakfast is served most mornings in the famous Oak Panelled Scott Room which can seat up to 130 guests and is an ideal wedding and function venue. It was in this room that Captain Robert Falcon Scott held his farewell dinner prior to his fateful expedition to the Antarctic in 1910.

By road

When travelling from the east, exit M4 at Junction 32 and follow signs for Cardiff A470 & City Centre. Route leads into Manor Way, then North Road. Turn left after passing the Castle with the Angel Hotel on the corner into Westgate Street. There are pay to park car parks located on this street. St Mary Street is adjacent to Westgate Steet. We are located next to Edwards Bar. When travelling from the west, exit at Junction 29 and follow signs for Cardiff (E&S) A48(M4) and continue straight on for approx 7 miles. Exit left at sign for City Centre (M4) A470. At roundabout after slip road exit, take second exit left – following signs for City Centre. Continue straight on for approx 300 yards to a roundabout and merge with traffic from North Road from your right. Continue straight along North Road until you reach the castle on your right and turn left after passing the Castle with the Angel Hotel on the corner into Westgate Street. Please note St Mary Street is now pedestrianised.

Public transport

The Royal Hotel Cardiff is 300yds from Cardiff Central Station. Exit the station and walk straight ahead for 100 yds to the main road. You will see a large building on the right across the road, on the corner of Westgate Street and St Mary Street, with O’Neils bar on the ground floor (blue sign). The entrance to the hotel is on the left side of the building, just past the entrance to Edwards Bar.
