WHAT TO SEE & DO IN CARDIFF THIS EASTER HOLIDAYS

Spring is now in full swing and we want to raise the spirits of the residents and visitors of Cardiff!
School’s out for the Easter Holidays so Visit Cardiff have put together a guide of 10 exciting things to do to enjoy as a family. Scroll for ticketed attractions and events, fun & free activities you can be more spontaneous with, a link to family-friendly hotels in case you want to extend your stay a little longer, and some practical advice that you may need to know.

1. A LUXURY GETAWAY AT THE PARKGATE HOTEL

To celebrate Easter Holidays, Treetop will be opening at 10am every day from Monday 3rd – Sunday 16th April, closing at at 8pm on Fri 7th, Sun 9th & Mon 10th April. Even the miniest golfers can trek their trails, and families of four play for less any time, any day. With two indoor 18-hole mini golf courses to choose from, will you trek the Tropical Trail or brave the ruins of the Ancient Explorer?

3. ENJOY HALF TERM FUN AT CARDIFF CASTLE
Entertain the family and enjoy the immersive family attraction, ‘Black Tower Tales’ that brings a turbulent period of Welsh history to life, where you will discover the story of Local Welsh hero Llywelyn Bren’s medieval struggle against the oppressive Sherriff of Glamorgan. 5. WORK AS A TEAM AT ESCAPE ROOMS CARDIFF
Come and see for yourself why Escape Rooms Cardiff is so much fun!
Choose your team of 2-6 players (per room). Select your theme from our 6 immersive game rooms. You’ll be given an objective and you’ll need to find objects, codes and clues in the rooms. 6. GET UP CLOSE TO SCIENCE AT TECHNIQUEST
You’ll find all kinds of amazing machines and curious contraptions to explore, with over 100 hands-on exhibits set across two floors.
You can add these extra activities to your visit too, for ages 7 and above: take a Star Tour across the galaxy and journey to planets and constellations light years away from our small blue dot of a home world; or book into a Rocket Science workshop in the KLA Lab and take your knowledge of space to a stratospheric level!

7. TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE AT THE RED DRAGON CENTRE
Between 30 March – 16 April, a free Spring Safari Trail featuring a menagerie of wild animals will be popping up inside The Red Dragon Centre. Young explorers and families are invited to find all the grass sculptures while collecting each of the letters along the way. Once all six letters have been found, they will then need to be unscrambled to spell a mystery word!
Trail seekers who crack the challenge can then scan any of the QR codes on the sculptures to submit their answer and be entered into a prize draw to win a family day out at The Red Dragon Centre. Along with searching out the amazing animals, grabbing a selfie and enjoying the fascinating facts, there will also be plenty of places to explore inside the Centre, with top attractions and restaurants to keep the whole family entertained. 8. ICE SKATE AT ICE ARENA WALES
The public sessions to cater for anyone and everyone, these include students, silver skaters, toddlers and lastly evening sessions. Ice skating is the perfect day out for family, friends or even your date where you can enjoy some fun on the ice. Remember, ice is the great equaliser – everyone falls!

9. ROAR WITH EXCITEMENT WITH THE BRICKLIVE DINO DISCOVERY TRAIL
Get ready to channel your inner palaeontologist as a herd of 15 dinosaurs, built using half a million toy bricks, is descending on Cardiff city centre this Easter. Among the enormous prehistoric creatures arriving at St David’s Dewi Sant Cardiff from 3-16 April 2023 are a 7ft tall Parasaurolophus made from 113,625 bricks and a 12ft long Velociraptor with 46,352 bricks.
The free BRICKLIVE Dino Discovery trail – an ideal choice for families with children aged 4-12, offers a captivating interactive experience, allowing visitors to get an up-close view of dinosaurs while learning fascinating facts about them. Find out more here.
10. VISIT AMGUEDDFA CYMRU-MUSEUM
With spring fast approaching, why not get out and about, and enjoy Amgueddfa Cymru-Museum Wales’s sites, events and activities?
There’s plenty to choose from including, courses, markets and workshops, plus The Big Museum Easter Trail – become an Easter detective, get counting and claim your tasty treat! Complete a cute craft to become a detective bunny, then set off on your way to search for the bunny friends hiding around all Amgueddfa Cymru Museums. Trails are £4, please book here.
11. PARK PLAZA
Hop into April the chocolate way and enjoy the exclusive Chocolate Afternoon Tea at the Laguna Kitchen & Bar served for the month of April with an Easter twist. Experience the ‘plate of chocolate delights’ including White Chocolate & Raspberry Tart with Crushed Easter Egg, Dark Chocolate Mousse, Ruby Sphere’s with Mint Chocolate and Chocolate Brownies.
