Volvo Ocean Race is coming to Cardiff!

To celebrate the arrival of the Volvo Ocean Race fleet for the Cardiff Stopover, Cardiff Bay will be hosting a FREE two week festival from 27 May – 10 June. With a packed programme of events and activities planned, you should definitely head down to Alexandra Head during half term and get involved in the action – it’s going to be too good to miss!

The Cardiff Stopover Race Village will be open from:

Sunday 27 May to Sunday 10 June
Sunday 27 May: 10am – 9:30pm
Monday 28 May: 10am – 9:30pm
Sunday – Thursday: 10am – 7pm
Friday – Saturday: 10am – 9:30pm

Military Festival of Music

Saturday 2 June 
A selection of Her Majesty the Queen’s finest Armed Forces bands, including The Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh.


Volvo Ocean Race 65 fleet

27th May – 10th June
The chance to see the boats up close! Volunteers will be on hand to explain the ins and outs of this fleet of ocean racing machines.


The Globe

27th May – 10th June
At the heart of the Race Village, The Globe serves as a Sustainability Centre as part of the mission to raise awareness about ocean health.

Race Boat Experience

Impress your friends with a selfie behind the wheel of a model Volvo Ocean 65 racing yacht.


Pit Lane Experience

Each Team Base will be open to the public, allowing fans to see how the crews work day to day.


Free Workshops & Talks

Head to the ABP classroom for a variety of fun-filled workshops from National Marine Aquarium, Cardiff University and more.
