Science for everyone, from tots to grandparents.

see do

There are so many reasons to visit Techniquest, the hands-on interactive science discovery centre in the heart of Cardiff Bay, with more than 120 mind-boggling exhibits, spectacular Science Theatre and Planetarium shows for all the family at weekends and during school holidays.

Get hands-on with The Big Machine – the largest exhibit ever installed at Techniquest – which has taken its place on the impressive exhibition floor.  This amazing exhibit, transported from the Science Museum in London, is a unique hands-on opportunity to experiment and discover more about engineering.  Plus – have you got what it takes to be an astronaut?  Try your hand at the challenging robotic arm exhibit, inspired by the International Space Station, and find out!

To celebrate 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl, Techniquest will be running Splendiferous Science over the summer holidays, an amazing new science theatre show inspired by the spectacular work of the Cardiff-born author.

See the stars as never before as we take a journey through space for a close-up look at distant galaxies and exploded stars at the fascinating presenter-led shows in Wales’ only digital Planetarium.

There’s something to keep everyone entertained for a couple of hours or more… plus you’ll find puzzles, books, science kits and much more in Techniquest’s shop – the largest gift shop in the Bay.   When it’s time for a break, take a seat in the coffee shop and choose from its wide selection of locally-sourced drinks, sandwiches and snacks.

Once you have your Techniquest wristband, you are free to come and go all day, so why not pop out for a stroll around the Bay and make your visit into a whole day out?

Techniquest welcomes public visitors throughout the year and is open at the weekend, on Bank Holidays and all week during school holidays (from 10 am to 5 pm). During school term time Techniquest will be closed on Mondays and the opening hours from Tuesday to Friday are 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
