I was instantly impressed with the cool, relaxed vibe and the vast range of food available at a competitive price for the city centre. For those who are not typical beer drinkers I’d recommend trying a Bacchus – a Belgian beer which is a sweet punch of cherry. Prefer wine over stein? There’s an extensive wine list and a healthy selection of alternative beverages too – including cocktails like a French Martini.
The knowledgeable and enthusiastic waiting staff were always on-hand to offer suggestions to suit our tastes.
The bar’s German routes are evident on first glance of the menu with hotdogs and burgers (from £4.95) and a mouth-watering list of toppings from around the world at £2.50 extra. For example you can blanket your lamb burger with the French flavours of goats cheese and mushrooms or heat up your hotdog with Mexican inspired ingredients of chilli, sour cream, salsa and cheese.
To begin my eating adventure around the world I opted for some summery flavours of southern Europe. The Mediterranean Platter (for four people at £19.95) is the perfect way to banish the winter blues. I then moved on to a taste of Germany in the form of a curry wurst pizza – a stone baked crispy base with curry sauce, coriander, onions, bratwurst and cheese. The bar has an extensive list of pizza specials on a board, perhaps a great sharing option if dining with friends.
Dining here is also a great afternoon out for the family, as they serve a children’s menu and there is a nearby Vue Cinema and Superbowl UK located in the Stadium Plaza.
Conveniently located for match days, the Principality Stadium is a mere stones throwaway and the Shooters Sports Bar also provides coverage of an extensive selection of sport on a huge screen, making it a very lively and fun day out.
