Dreamachine
Event Info
Dreamachine is an immersive experience like no other.
All you have to do is sit back and close your eyes to explore the fascinating potential of your mind.
A powerful new kind of collective experience, Dreamachine will take you on a uniquely immersive journey of light and music. A kaleidoscopic technicolour world will unfold behind your closed eyes, created by your own brain and completely unique to you.
What will you see? How will you feel? Only you will know because every experience of the Dreamachine will be entirely personal. This extraordinary experience offers you space for exploration, joy, and reflection, shedding light on how differently we see and make sense of the world around us.
Dreamachine has been created by Collective Act, in collaboration with Turner Prize-winning artists Assemble, Grammy and Mercury nominated composer Jon Hopkins, and a team of leading technologists, scientists and philosophers.
It is inspired by an extraordinary but little-known 1959 invention by artist–inventor Brion Gysin, who’s experimental homemade device used flickering light to create vivid illusions, kaleidoscopic patterns and explosions of colour in the mind of the viewer.
Now, over sixty years later, inspired by Gysin’s pioneering concept, Dreamachine has been radically re-imagined into a powerful new kind of collective experience.
You’ll be able to see Dreamachine at The Temple of Peace from Thursday 12th May until Saturday 18th June.
This is a free ticketed event, commissioned as part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK.
