Speciality coffee roaster 200 Degrees has announced further investment in its Cardiff coffee shop with the installation of an in-store roaster. which will provide its customers with fresh coffee, hand-roasted on the premises.

With a desire to serve its customers Welsh-roasted coffee, 200 Degrees has for the first time moved some of its production away from its main roast house across the bridge in Nottingham, and will be serving the on-site roasted coffee in the Queen Street shop from mid-November.

200 Degrees CoffeeThe freshly roasted coffee will also be supplied to 200 Degrees’ Wales-based wholesale customers and, for those who are local to the shop, it will be delivered by peddle power – one of a number of initiatives the company is implementing on the road to going green.

The 5kg roaster will bring a new experience for customers, whilst also creating two new jobs at the shop. Installed within the store itself, customers can see the roaster in action and also enjoy a real just-roasted aroma.

As well as on-the-premises roasted coffee, the Cardiff shop will be hosting regular hands-on roasting workshops, barista courses and other events, allowing customers to get involved by roasting, tasting and discussing the bean to cup process.

MD of 200 Degrees, Tom Vincent, said: “We’ve been thinking about expanding the roasting side of the business for a while and really wanted to start with Cardiff. Being able to serve authentic Welsh-roasted coffee to our Cardiff customers is fantastic, it felt like the right thing to do.

“Cardiff has a vibrant coffee scene which we love being a part of and so the further investment in the store was a natural step for us. We are always looking at new ways to offer the best – not just in food and drink – but also offering our customers unique experiences too.

“We are always looking at new ways to offer the best”

“Being able to offer our Cardiff customers quality coffee that has been roasted in front of them, plus the opportunity to get involved in how we create a great cup, as well as being able to train our Cardiff team on an in-store roaster is brilliant, it’s what we strived for.”

Visitors to nearby Cardiff Castle café, which has been serving its customers with 200 Degrees coffee since April this year, will also be able to enjoy the locally roasted coffee, whilst special small volume roasts will be available at other venues, both in and outside of Wales.

One of Cardiff’s most popular coffee shops, 200 Degrees serves a selection of hot and cold drinks and handcrafted food to eat in or take away.
