Everything You Need To Know As Restaurants and Bars Open Outdoors in Cardiff

Showers may be forecast this week but most venues will have large umbrellas and gazebos to keep you cosy and dry. Although if you would rather stay in, please don’t forget to cancel your table in advance!
When does outdoor hospitality re-open in Cardiff and Wales?
From April 26th outdoor hospitality can re-open, including at cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants. Outdoor attractions have also been given the go-ahead to reopen on the same date.
The Welsh Assembly Government has announced that six people from any number of households will be able to meet outdoors in Wales from Saturday April 24th. The total number of six does not include children under 11 years of age or carers, who are exempt from this rule.
What should I expect when I visit Cardiff?

After months of lockdown people are excited to visit Cardiff again, but please be aware that the City Centre may be busy as outdoor hospitality re-opens. In order to keep the public safe, limited capacities are likely to be in place which could potentially make it difficult to get a table if you donât book in advance.
To avoid disappointment please check out the official websites of any bars, restaurants, or cafes you would like to go to for their opening dates and times.
Should you need assistance, Cardiff Council will have safety stewards patrolling during the day in the main shopping and pedestrianised areas and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. The Botanist
Church Street

The Brewhouse and Kitchen has one of the largest beer gardens in the city, and even has some undercover seating in the form of repurposed beach huts. It is located close to Sophia Gardens and is easy to get to from the City Centre via an idyllic walk through Bute Park. The Brewhouse and Kitchen is well known for serving a wide range of ales and classic pub grub.

Canton
Chapter Arts Centre will be opening outside for food & drink from April 26th with a fabulous marquee at the front of the building and extra undercover seating and heaters in the beer garden.

The Coconut Tree
Mill Lane

The award-winning Sri Lankan bar and restaurant known for its street food inspired small plates, packed full of flavour will reopen its outdoor dining area on Mill Lane from April 26th. The Coconut Tree have also confirmed the extension of their âEat out to help outâ offer – 50% off Monday – Wednesday, until 31 January 2022.

Corporation Yard
Canton
Corporation Yard is known for hosting popular pop-up events in Canton and is currently hosting a number of street food businesses. They have recently announced a makeover of the space, including more outdoor seating, and a new licenced outdoor bar. If youâre looking to try somewhere new and support local independent businesses, this may be the place for you.

Williams Way

Cardiffâs biggest independent warehouse events venue are reopening from April 26th for the return of their popular âStreet Food Socialâ event. The event will be held outdoors with socially distanced covered tables, a fully licensed bar, and will host some of the finest street food traders in South Wales.

Eli Jenkins the popular gastro pub in Cardiff Bay will be reopening their stylish and spacious beer garden from April 26th, with great prices on food and drink. If youâre planning on going for a drink in the sun in Cardiff Bay soon, why not book your table in advance to avoid any disappointment?

Gin and Juice
High Street

Gin and Juice, a bespoke gin bar located at the entrance to the Castle Arcade will also be reopening. Known for serving speciality gin cocktails, bespoke bottled beers, and other tasty tipsy drinks by night. By day, they serve amazing healthy breakfasts, lunch and light supper together with freshly pressed juices to cleanse and refresh.
How to book? According to their facebook page the bar wonât be taking any bookings on the 26th, it will be walk-ins all day.
Juniper Place
High Street
If youâre a fan of craft gin, then you may wish to book a table at Juniper Place. Located on High Street in Cardiff city centre, a stoneâs throw away from Cardiff Castle Gin isnât the only thing on the menu, youâll find a range of food options being served from breakfast until dinner time.
