Welsh – Italian pizzas now on Cardiff Tasting Tour menu
Wales – Italy with an umbrella!
Cardiff Tasting Tours – every Friday and every Saturday, 10:30 – 14:00, £40 per person, Meeting point: Cardiff Castle
Can pizza be on a Cardiff Tasting Tour – absolutely? They say Wales is Italy with a umbrella – as the Welsh and Italians love singing, chatting, ice cream and pizza! We now have 8 tasting stops on our delicious Cardiff Tasting Tour including the most delicious pizzas at our newest venue Ffwrnes Pizza in Cardiff.
Our pizza tastings include Sobrasada – pizza bianco (without tomato sauce), made with Fior di latte, parmigiano Reggiano, Sobrasada (spicy soft spreadable chorizo) from Trealy Farm in Monmouthshire and the pizza is finished with some Cardiff honey. Ffwrnes pizza dough is traditional Neapolitan, always homemade and topped with San Marzano tomatoes, a must for true Neapolitan pizza. The toppings come from a variety of brilliant producers that span the length and breadth of Wales and the pizza is cooked to perfection in 90 seconds within the fiery Ffwrnes (furnace – wood-fired oven).
Also on the menu, tea, bara brith & laverbread scones , Welsh cheese & charcuterie, Welsh beer and cider, laverbread & cockles, faggots and warm welshcakes. Our other tasting venues include Pettigrew Tea Rooms, Wally’s Deli and Kaffeehaus, The Cottage Pub, Ashtons Fishmongers, Market Deli, Fabulous Welshcakes and Bar44.
The tour itself is a great way to experience Cardiff, try some lush Welsh food and drink tastings, learn some history and enjoy some good company with an experienced guide. The best part is you won’t need lunch afterwards.
A Review from our TripAdvisor Page: “Our tour guide was called Ieuan, and he was brilliant. Very knowledgeable and full of historical anecdotes about the beautiful city of Cardiff. The food and drink stops were excellent. No rush to get through to the next destination, just the right pace for the day. Many thanks. Very highly recommended for people visiting the city but also those who are familiar with Cardiff but think of them self as a bit if a foodie.”
