Enjoy the scenery to and from the Inner Harbour by foot or by bike

The route provides a safe pedestrian and cycle route with direct access to and from the Inner Harbour, linking with the existing footway, cycle way and transport network through to the city and beyond. The path is accessible via the Penarth side, as well as the Bay Edge Walkway near Porth Teigr on the Cardiff Bay side.

It’s part of the 10km (6.2 mile) Bay Trail, which runs around the Bay and across to the seaside town of Penarth via Pont Y Werin, a 140m bridge providing a link for pedestrians and cyclists between Penarth and the International Sports Village.

Passing the locks, bridges, sluice gates and fish pass on the Barrage, visitors can enjoy the play area, Skate Plaza, free exhibitions and Enormous Crocodile bench, and make a pit-stop at the RSPB-run Hafren Café.

You can park at the pay and display car park on the Penarth side of the Barrage (CF64 1TQ), which is open seven days a week.
