The Norwegian Church Arts Centre is one of the landmark buildings  situated in Cardiff Bay and has panoramic views over the waterfront. Formerly a Church for Norwegian sailors, the iconic building dates back to the industrial revolution, when Cardiff Docks was the world’s greatest exporter of coal.

 

Whether you’re meeting friends, going for a walk around Cardiff Bay or taking in one of the many local events, we’re perfectly placed for you to take a well earned break.
Our café has a great selection of home made cakes, sandwiches and snacks to satisfy your hunger and our teas and coffees won’t disappoint!

Did you know that the Norwegian Church hosted Roald Dahl’s baptism?
With its enviable location and distinctive wooden exterior, the Norwegian Church offers an ideal location for small conferences, meetings, corporate hospitality, concerts and wedding receptions. The historic Grieg Room can host a theater style meeting for up to 60 delegates (daytime) 90 delegates (evening), or boardroom / horseshoe style for up to 30 delegates. The Centre can accommodate 80 guests for a formal banquet style wedding reception.

Behind its unique façade the venue is surprisingly flexible with its own integrated projection and sound system, lighting, hearing induction system and staging in addition to free WiFi. It also makes an ideal location for concerts, shows and gigs seating up to 90. Catering and licensed bar on-site too.

The Norwegian Church (Registered Charity 519831) offers regular music concerts, theatre and a range of events, enjoyed by the Cardiff community and visitors.

Pop in for lunch or coffee and our award winning cakes on the waterfront of Cardiff Bay.

Dishes and ingredients are locally sourced, including True Taste award winning products. FREE WiFi is available for all our customers. Braille menus are also available.

We also cater for events, meetings, private parties and weddings that are taking place in the Norwegian Church.

Opening hours

Good news – The Norwegian Church Arts Centre is free admission.

10.30am – 16.00 daily*

Hot food is served until 1 hour before closing, drinks and cakes available until closing time.

*Extended opening during summer months and peak periods (weather permitting) please note we may also close early due to private functions. Please check times in advance of your visit.

Come and have a look around the Grieg Room (main hall), Dahl Gallery (upstairs) and pop into our Café for a coffee or a bite a eat.

Directions

By road

From the M4, from the west leave at Junction 33 and follow the A4232 all the way to the Bay; from the east leave at Junction 29, take the 3rd exit off the A48 and follow the signs to Cardiff Bay. Once you’re there, follow the signs to your nearest car park, or use the on-street pay and display parking behind the Norwegian Church.

Public transport

Frequent rail services operate all week with connections at Queen Street Station from the rest of the Valleys and Cardiff local routes network. There are also connections at Cardiff Central Station. For details call National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50. The number 6 bendy baycar bus runs regularly between Cardiff city centre and the Bay, and services 7, 8 and 35 also run to the Bay. Get off at the Wales Millennium Centre.
