Mermaid Quay announces Free Wellness Programme for Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

Monday, 11 May 2026

Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay’s premier dining and leisure destination, is proud to support Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 with a series of free activities designed to help visitors relax, reconnect and take positive steps for wellbeing.

This year’s theme, “Take Action – for yourself, or for someone else,” encourages simple, meaningful actions that support mental health.

Taking place on Tuesday 12 May and Thursday 14 May, Mermaid Quay will host a series of wellbeing-focused events set against the backdrop of Cardiff Bay, encouraging calm, connection and time outdoors.

Following the success of last year’s event, Jen from Vibes Yoga & Pilates Bar will return to deliver free outdoor yoga sessions on Tuesday 12 May. Held on the Mermaid Quay boardwalk overlooking the water, sessions will run from 10:00–11:00 and are suitable for all ages and abilities, offering a peaceful and serene start to the morning.

Participants are encouraged to book in advance via https://www.vibesyogabar.com to secure a space.

On Thursday 14 May, Danielle from Dakota Therapies will also be returning to offer free mini massages in Tacoma Square. Sessions will run from 12:00–14:00 and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no advance booking required.

Together, the activities reflect four of the recommended actions for supporting mental wellbeing: connecting with nature, planning something to look forward to, practising mindfulness, and staying physically active.

Mark Lemon, Centre Manager at Mermaid Quay, said: “The Take Action theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is a powerful reminder that wellbeing doesn’t always come from big changes – it starts with small, everyday actions.

“At Mermaid Quay, we want to create moments that help people slow down, connect and take a breath, whether for themselves or for someone else who might need it.

“We hope this programme offers exactly that space over the week.”

Visitors are also advised that work is currently underway to transform the Mermaid Quay multi-storey car park into a brighter, more modern and user-friendly facility.

The refurbishment will include upgraded lighting, improved signage, fresh decoration, enhanced security measures, and the installation of electric vehicle charging points.

During this period, the car park will be closed, and visitors are encouraged to use nearby alternatives, including Q-Park Cardiff Bay and Havannah Street car park.
