Twixmas Treats in Cardiff Bay
Mon, 29 December 2025
It’s Twixmas time in Cardiff; presents have been opened, the turkey has been eaten and now it’s time for that cosy countdown period between Christmas Day and New Year.
While it can be nice to while away those few days in quiet comfort and relaxation, it can also be a good idea to escape the house for a few hours and find some fun activities that the whole family can enjoy.
With that in mind, two of our Cardiff Bay destinations have sent through some great suggestions to keep the kids occupied for a morning, an afternoon, or even the whole day…
The Red Dragon Centre
Make the most of Twixmas at The Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay, your go-to destination for fun and food. Bursting with activities, there’s entertainment for everyone – from the big screen at the cinema to bowling and arcades, plus a casino and on-site gym. When it’s time to refuel, explore all-you-can-eat dining, flavours from around the world, and crowd favourites like Five Guys. Be sure to stop by WhoCult, now open and perfect for a festive donut and coffee treat.
Enjoy 6 hours of free customer parking with a minimum spend, plus overspill parking available at Q-Park during busy times, so you can relax and stay longer. See what’s on and start planning your Twixmas fun at thereddragoncentre.co.uk.
Techniquest
As well as the usual 100+ hands-on exhibits to explore, Techniquest has an out-of-this-world live science show suitable for over-5s and a wonderful 7+ workshop on offer this Twixmas.
‘Technispace: Blast Off!’ explores the potential problems and perils that humanity may face in space as we look to follow in the footsteps of the great cosmonauts and astronauts before us.
In ‘Crime Lab’, hosted in Techniquest’s KLA Lab, visitors must recover a missing diamond and will dive into the world of crime-solving by looking for fingerprints, analysing mysterious clothing fibres, and uncovering the secrets of ink through chromatography.
You can enhance your Techniquest experience with one of these events at just £2.50 in addition to your general admission ticket.
The science discovery centre is open daily from 10am–5pm throughout the festive period (excluding 24–26 December and 1 January). Visit techniquest.org for more information and to book your tickets.
