Event Info

A powerful co-production between Wales Millennium Centre and Welsh National Theatre, Owain & Henry brings one of the most defining stories in Welsh history to the stage in an epic tale of power, national identity and the price of silence.

Written by Olivier Award-winning Welsh playwright Gary Owen (Iphigenia in Splott), this ambitious new production explores the dramatic clash between Owain Glyndŵr (Michael Sheen) and King Henry IV (Linus Roache) at a pivotal moment in Welsh history.

In 1400, Owain Glyndŵr, a lord from a small corner of north Wales, is declared an outlaw by King Henry IV. Refusing to accept his fate, Owain rises in rebellion, sparking a revolt that spreads across the border. As the fight for Welsh independence gathers momentum, Henry struggles to hold on to his throne, setting the two men on opposing sides of a battle that will shape the future of a nation.

Co-directed by Michael Sheen and Steffan Donnelly of Theatr Cymru, Owain & Henry is a stirring historical epic infused with poetic power, bringing to life a story of resistance, ambition and the fight for national identity. This is a chance to discover a defining chapter in Welsh history through a bold and compelling theatrical experience.
