National Museum Cardiff is situated in the heart of Cardiff’s elegant civic centre and houses world class art and natural history, including Wales’s national art, natural history and geology collections, as well as major touring and temporary exhibitions.
If you want to stand and stare, there’s plenty to please your eye – from Impressionist paintings to gigantic dinosaurs. With a busy programme of exhibitions and events, we have something to amaze everyone, whatever your interest – and admission is free!

At National Museum Cardiff, we pride ourselves in providing good quality food that is cooked on site using local, Welsh products whenever possible.
Oriel Restaurant, situated on the lower ground floor of the Museum, serves hot and cold lunches from 12pm to 2.30pm, a range of sandwiches and baguettes, home-made soup, cakes and hot and cold drinks. This area is family-friendly and provides children’s sandwich boxes, selected children’s portions of main meals and specific meals for children during weekends and school holidays.
The Coffee Shop is situated in the Main Hall and is a great spot from which to enjoy the grandeur of the building. Here we serve a variety of home-made cakes and sandwiches and also hot and cold drinks.
The shop is bursting with exciting gifts and has something for everyone. Whether you’re a museum visitor or just here for the shopping, you’ll be inspired by our unique gift ideas. We have a variety of pocket-money toys, branded souvenirs and quirky presents to inspire and educate.
There are designated parking bays for Blue Badge holders to the rear of the Visitor Car Park, access via Museum Avenue. There is wheelchair access to all galleries.

Parking
A Visitor Car Park is situated behind the Museum, off Museum Avenue. Purchase an exit token from the Museum Shop - £6.50. Parking is free to disabled badge holders. Please take your blue badge to the Museum shop when purchasing your token. On-road disabled parking bays also available at the front of Museum on Gorsedd Gardens Road.
By Bus
From Cardiff Central Bus Station take bus number 53 or 85 to the Museum. From Cardiff Bay take the Bay Car bus number 6. You can plan your journey using the Traveline Cymru website or by calling their helpline on 0800 464 0000.
By Train
