Cardiff Food and Drink Festival, one of the most popular events in the city’s summer calendar, is back with an exciting mix of local food heroes, global flavours, award-winning producers and a diverse programme of live music across three days.

The festival features several flavourful areas, the Producers Fair and Farmers Market, Street Food Piazza, Crafters Market, and swinging Bandstand. No tickets are needed, entry to the site is free, with any food, drink and produce being paid for individually at each stall.

Where and When is the Festival?

Cardiff Food & Drink Festival takes place in and around Cardiff Bay’s famous Roald Dahl Plass from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 July.

What are the Opening Times?

Friday: 12:00 – 22:00*
Saturday: 11:00 – 22:00*
Sunday: 11:00 – 19:00

*Street Food Piazza and Bars are open until 22:00, while Farmers Market, Producers Fair and Crafters Market close at 21:00 and trade stalls close at 19:00.

What can you expect at the Festival?

The Producers Fair and Farmers Market will have a host of stallholders, all offering a spectacular spread of quality produce. Meanwhile caterers will be cooking up a storm on the Street Food Piazza, where you can choose from a wide range of freshly prepared foodie delights.

Alongside the fantastic food and drink, the Bandstand will have full programme of live music throughout each of the three days of the festival. Meanwhile, at the Crafters Market, you’ll find a wonderful selection of hand-made goods, curated by Craft*folk.

THE PRODUCERS FAIR

The Producers Fair provides a veritable feast for foodie lovers. Look out for a bounty of bakeries, artisanal ice-creams, beverages both brewed and distilled, not to mention cheeses, meats and sweets.

THE FARMERS MARKET

With over 50 stalls, selling all sorts of gorgeous goodies, the Farmers Market will be full of fantastic produce. You'll find a huge range of wines, beers, ciders and spirits, plenty of preserves, sweet treats and more...

STREET FOOD PIAZZA

From curries to kebabs, paella to poutine, and tacos to tapas, find all your favourite flavours on the Street Food Piazza! So, make sure you pop in to our delicious pop-ups, your taste buds won't know what's hit them.

THE BANDSTAND

Our swinging Bandstand is the festival's lyrical larder and, as ever, will be fully stocked with food for your soul. A super selection of hand-picked, grass-roots acts will be serving up a musical menu filled with summer flavours.

CRAFTERS MARKET

Craft*folK will be back once again to curate the Crafters Market. The distinctive red and white stalls alongside the Plass will be populated by a truly eclectic mix of arts and crafts, all hand-made.

TRADE STANDS

Each year, at the entrance to the Plass, there are positioned a small number of trade stands where you can interact with local organisations and charities that are part of the community while visiting Cardiff Food and Drink Festival.

Travel & Transport

Walk: Roald Dahl Plass is a straightforward half-hour stroll from the city centre, a flat and easy-to follow route and a great way to build up an appetite.

Cycle: A 10-minute cycle from the city centre, with a dedicated cycle lane along Lloyd George Avenue and secure event bike parking on arrival.

Train: 4 trains per hour arrive and depart the recently enhanced Cardiff Bay Station (a few minutes walk away) from Cardiff Queen Street, running day and night.

Bus: Baycar connects the Bay (Millennium Centre) and city centre (Interchange), every 15 minutes in the day and half hourly in the evening. The open-roof Skycar (both operated by Cardiff Bus) is another option, while Sightseeing Cardiff also offer a guided hop-on-hop-off bus.

Boat: There is also an hourly waterbus, operated by Cardiff Boat, between Cardiff Bay and Bute Park, with a guide talking about Cardiff while travelling down the River Taff.

Taxi: A dedicated rank outside the Tesco Express store in Mermaid Quay is to be used, a few minutes walk away. Veezu is the main operator.

Directions: From the west and north, take J33 and follow A4232. From the east, take J29 and follow A48 and Rover Way. Due to the popularity of this event, there may be congestion when driving to or from the festival and is therefore recommended to travel to the event by different means if you’re able to.

Parking: Paid car parking is available at Havannah Street, Q-Park multi-storey, and the newly re-opened Mermaid Quay multi-storey, all less than a 10-minutes walk away. Please be aware that parking capacity is limited while new a multi-storey car park is being built at The Red Dragon Centre.

Other Important Information

  • Only alcohol purchased from the event bars can be consumed on-site. Alcohol purchased from the Producers Fair, Farmers Market or off-site cannot be consumed on-site.
  • For the comfort and safety of all, we recommend that customers do not bring dogs to the Festival. The site can become very crowded, which may cause stress or discomfort to your pet. Guide dogs and assistance dogs on leads, with identification, are permitted.
  • All producers and caterers attending the festival have a current Food Standard Agency rating of 4 or 5.
