The Ivy Asia brings beautiful fusion flavours, exotic cocktails and late-night entertainment to the heart of Cardiff, every night of the week. Located in St David’s Shopping Centre, just a short walk from the city’s historic castle and Cardiff Market, The Ivy Asia Cardiff is perfectly placed to provide a stunning sanctuary for shoppers, tourists and locals alike.

Location & opening hours

The Ivy is located in the popular location of The Hayes, part of the St David’s Dewi Sant shopping centre. A short 5-minute stroll from Cardiff Central station, and surrounded by a number of bus stops, ideal for travelling to and from on a night out.

The restaurant opens at 11.30am, just in time for a leisurely lunch and closes at 2am (except Monday at midnight), so perfect for some late-night cocktails. The Ivy Asia also boasts a resident DJ from Monday to Friday 6pm-11pm and Saturday – Sunday 3pm-11pm.

Occasion, atmosphere & decor

Whilst the Ivy Asia is a slightly more casual affair than its sister venue next door, the atmosphere remains sophisticated but with a relaxed dress code of smart casual.

This venue suits a number of occasions, date nights, anniversary dinners, lunch with friends – or you could even pop in for a quick cocktail at the bar on a day out shopping. It’s decorated with stunning antiques and artwork, the restaurant also boasts two large cherry trees that pop perfectly against the dazzling, green onyx floor.

The Ivy Asia is also family friendly, welcoming children & babies of all ages, just make sure you have included any children in the guest quantity when reserving your table.

Price point

Trip advisor rates The Ivy Asia a price point of £££. The small dishes tend to be around £8.95 & £11.95, whilst the large dishes range from £9.50 to £64.00. As the menu is so varied, there is the option to pay a more reasonable price for a casual lunch out, or you could really splash out on a celebratory meal.

Whatever your tipple, The Ivy Asia is kitted out with speciality Asian teas, sakes, spirits, cocktails, dessert wines and beers. As well as a host of non-alcoholic cocktails.

Signature dishes

Pictured: Starter – sesame crusted prawn dumplings (ponzu & daikon) and gochujang glazed fried chicken with sesame pickled cucumber. Main – beef sirloin, coriander lime chilli & tamarind salsa and samjang spiced tofu with aubegine Spinach and sesame & chilli with a side of kimchi fried rice. Dessert – Creme Brulee, Peach & Lychee.

Some of The Ivy’s delicious specialities include Aromatic Half Duck, Steamed Pancakes, The Bonsai, Mixed Yasai Roll, Avocado Tartare, Shitake Eryngii Gunkan, Dragon Roll & Cucomber and asparagus roll.

Vegetarian options & allergies

The menu includes 8 vegan dishes (including sides and desserts), making this restaurant a great hotspot for vegans and meat eaters alike.

The Ivy Asia suggest that if you or a member of your group has an allergy, intolerance or any other special dietary requirements, just let them know when you book, and the team will be ready to accommodate on the day.
