Event Info
If you love history, legends, and nature, this guided walk in the Wye Valley is for you. Meander along the River Wye, enjoy beautiful, scenic views and have fun crossing the wibbly wobbly rope bridge at Biblins. Take home a piece of history as you visit the mysterious limestone King Arthur’s cave.
The guided walk begins in the small village of Whitchurch where there is road parking and a fine cafe. As you head off on the road, you will soon be alongside the winding River Wye.
Next, a refreshment break at a picturesque café in the village of Symonds Yat. Make sure you have your camera ready for the spectacular views over the River and remarkable Huntsham Oxbow below.
From here, head downhill and back to the riverside until you reach the wibbly wobbly bridge at Biblins which is always fun to cross!
A peaceful forest walk now ensues as you head to locate King Arthur’s Cave which is positioned less than 100m above the river on a hill. Soon after, you will visit the remains of an Iron Age Hill Fort, said to be the place where King Vortigern had his last stand before disappearing from history.
Finally, enjoy some delightful lanes back to the starting point.
