Unearthing the past to sustain the future.

Following the success of last year’s performance, the sensational WNO Youth Opera are back with a brand-new show.

It is the year 2423 and a group of school children and their android teacher embark on a trip outdoors, where they discover a time capsule, a gift left by children 400 years ago.

Within the box, they find a collection of strange things and a withered green thing. In a modernist world where individuality and nature are unknown, they realise how much the world has changed and challenge themselves to learn about the objects they’ve acquired. Instinctively one of the children snubs the android’s request to ignore the plant and secretly takes it home to water, opening a world of new possibilities for all the children.

Director Rhian Hutchings and Designer Greta Baxter come together for this production where we learn the importance of loving and nurturing all things living.

Following the performance of Cary John Franklin’s opera, the 70+ strong ensemble will come together to sing a new choral work by WNO Youth Opera Music Director Dan Perkin, Solomon’s Ring.
